Kanem Creative Painting

As part of Kanem Creative's commitment to community healing and social transformation, our painting class for children across Borno is a unique initiative designed to introduce young minds to the principles of transitional justice through the powerful medium of visual art.

This class brings together children from communities affected by conflict to explore themes of healing, peace, justice, memory, and reconciliation. Guided by trained artists and facilitators, participants learn basic drawing and painting techniques while expressing their personal and collective experiences. Through their artwork, children reflect on their hopes for the future, document their lived realities, and participate in meaningful creative expression around healing and rebuilding.

By turning trauma into creative expression, this program not only nurtures artistic talent but also serves as a therapeutic and educational space for the next generation to understand their role in shaping a more peaceful society. The artworks produced are later featured in exhibitions to amplify these young voices and deepen public understanding of the impact of conflict and the importance of justice and healing.
